The North Texas Chapter was founded in the summer of 1969. North Texas hosts many prominent aerospace companies, including Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopter, Northrop Grumman, Gulfstream, Spirit Aerosystems, Moog, Raytheon, L3, and Airbus Helicopters.

The Society of Flight Test Engineers is an international professional organization whose mission is to advance Flight Test effectiveness, safety, and efficiency. This Society is dedicated to sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration across the aerospace industry by promoting expertise and esteem amongst flight test professionals.
